White River - Mountain View Getaway

Lisa and I spent the weekend in Mountain View, Arkansas. This would be our last free weekend to "up and go" before I started my new position as a Worship Leader the following weekend. We went there primarily to fish on the White River for trout. An added bonus was all the great bluegrass music being  played outdoors around the downtown area the night before we hit the river. Wow! Not my favorite type of music, but I truly enjoyed it. The skill of the local's musicianship was something to take note of. These folks do what they do for the love of the music. They aren't getting paid, just socializing and having fun. And what really got my attention were the amount of children that could play so well. Really, something neat to see. Why didn't I take pictures? Ugh.

So.......on to the river.

We rented a small boat and went a couple of miles up the river, killed the engine, and drifted back. Most of the wildlife that was visible were birds, turtles, etc.

As we got started, it was early in the morning and the fog was pretty heavy. However the sun soon started popping up over the trees and made for a beautiful site in such beautiful surroundings. I took this picture with my iPhone using no filters. Look how nice the photo of the sun turned out!

Lisa got our gear ready while I navigated the boat upstream. We used mostly corn and shrimp for bait. I won't say how many we caught, but I will admit she caught more than I did. Can we move on now?

All the fish we caught were about like this one. Got a few that were Rainbow trout as well. It was a fun weekend...would love to go back sometime.

I wore these gloves to handle fish because these things are SO slippery. There's got to be a correct way to hold them, but I didn't figure it out.
